Disney ship sets sail from New Orleans for the first time

Disney Cruise Line’s Disney Wonder has set sail from New Orleans, marking the first time that a Disney Cruise Line ship has had a homeport in Louisiana.

The launch was marked with a bon voyage celebration featuring Princess Tiana, Prince Naveen and members of the New Orleans Treme Brass Band, inspired by the Disney animated film The Princess and the Frog.

This cruise is part of a limited-engagement season sailing from New Orleans in 2020, and Disney Cruise Line will be returning to New Orleans again in early 2021. These voyages include ports of call in the Bahamas, Caribbean and stops at Disney’s private island, Castaway Cay.

Passengers on board Disney Wonder can enjoy dining and entertainment at Tiana’s Place restaurant, offering a menu that draws inspiration from the flavours and ingredients of the Louisiana bayou.

In the new French Quarter Lounge, guests can enjoy live jazz music, sip a New Orleans-themed speciality drink, and dance. Daytime family activities, trivia, workshops, crafts and music are also influenced by the bayou spirit.
