Scenic launches culinary tours in Europe

Scenic Luxury Cruises and Tours has launched two new culinary cruises sailing in France from April 2021 as well as a five-day mini-cruise along the Danube, sailing between Vienna, Austria, and Budapest, Hungary.

The 11-day round-trip Tastes of Southern France sailing allows guests to savour the south of France while sailing from Lyon, and taking in the wine-growing regions of Beaujolais, Avignon and Viviers.

Guests can enjoy cooking lessons, tastings and presentation. On land, they can learn the techniques of truffle farming on a guided tour with a local farmer, which includes a tasting; visit the restaurant of Georges Blanc for a cooking demonstration; sample wines on a tour of the Château Meursault wine estate; and attend an exclusive interactive workshop at the Valrhona Cite du Chocolate museum.

Scenic’s 11-day round-trip Flavours of Bordeaux cruise will sail through the Médoc region, where guests can take in the landscapes, enjoy local fare and visit a truffle farm and winery. Additional experiences include learning about traditional barrel making from a local cooper; attending a blind wine tasting; enjoying a local tasting of cheese, bread, charcuterie and cocktails at the estate of Château de La Rivière; and sampling fresh oysters with champagne and a dinner of fresh seafood, sourced from Arcachon Bay.

For the new five-day mini-cruise, Tastes of Imperial Europe, one of Scenic’s Scenic Space ships will visit Europe’s medieval towns, Baroque palaces and fairytale castles. Guests will benefit from a personal butler service.

The sailings begin in Vienna and travel through Bratislava, Slovakia, towards Budapest. Guest experiences include a guided tour to discover Bratislava’s communist-era history; a visit to the underground labyrinths of the Hospital in the Rock, set underneath the city’s castle district and built in secret during World War II; a hike up the World Heritage-listed Buda Hill; and an exclusive private classical music concert in the second-largest Baroque palace in the world.
